I’m always amazed when I read about how our bodies work.  When one little thing is out of wack, it affects the rest of the body.

Not being a medical person, I don’t really know much about how the body works.  I only know how my body feels when it’s not working very well.

All through the night, I kept waking up and fretting about my health and the health of others.  When I awoke this morning, I felt like I needed to get some perspective so I decided to write down some things I know about the status of this earthly tent.

Here’s what I do know:

I know that my body sends out an alert with pain or fever or nausea or some other unpleasant symptom when something is not working right.  God created that!

I know that God was there when my body was forming in my mother’s womb.  He knew that I would have a rare kidney disease.  He knew which of my children would be affected by it too.

I know God noticed when the first one-in-a-million-chance cancer cells began to form deep within me.  He knows how this cancer is going to affect my body and what side effects I’m going to have.

I know that God planned all of this before He even created the world.  He knows every cell in my body and every hair on my head.  Since I have a lot of hair, that’s a lot to keep track of!

I know nothing catches God by surprise.  He knows when and if I will be healed from this cancer.  He knows if my beloved, gifted kidney will make it through this process.

I know God is the Sovereign Healer.  I know God works through the gifts He has given to those in the medical profession.

I know God doesn’t let anything go to waste.  He will use this for good – no matter what the physical outcome is.

I know He hears me when I ask for Him to take this mess away.  I know He says, “I’ve got you.  Don’t be afraid.”

I know if you are reading this, God has something He wants you to learn from watching my struggle.  Ask Him what it is.

Lord, you are the creator and sustainer of my life and my body.  You are in control of all things.  That you see and know what is going on in my body is a great comfort to me.  I know you’ve got me in your hands.  Thank you for the medical team you have placed around me.  Bless them as they treat me and care for me.  Thank you that nothing I am experiencing will go to waste.  Please use this for your glory and to bless others.  Amen
